The faults that bring us out

Temperature trouble first. A drifting sensor shows up as inconsistent baking months before it becomes a display code; we verify with a calibrated probe, not by feel. Elements and relays second — an oven stone-cold at any setting is usually a bake element or the relay feeding it. Door hardware third: hinges, gaskets and latches wear, and a leaking door quietly taxes everything else. And on double ovens, one-cavity faults — the upper oven dead while the lower works — which we test and quote per cavity, because that’s how they’re built.

Built-in means careful

Double wall ovens weigh 200 lb and up, trimmed into custom cabinetry. When a unit has to come out, we bring the second set of hands, protect the hardwood, and put the trim back the way we found it. That’s part of the visit, not an extra.

FAQ

My oven died mid self-clean.

Common — self-clean runs near 900°F and takes marginal parts with it: thermal fuse, latch assembly, sometimes a relay. Don’t force the door; the latch is tested first.

One French door sags lower than the other.

Door-gear wear — repairable, and worth doing early: a sagging door stresses the opposite gear and the latch.

If only one cavity of my double oven failed, is the whole unit pulled?

Usually not. Many one-cavity repairs are done from the front without removing the unit; we tell you on the phone once we know the model and symptom.
