Before you call — three quick checks
- After a spill or boil-over, give ignition 24 hours to dry. A wet igniter or cap is the single most common “broken” Viking cooktop we’re called about — and half of them fix themselves.
- Reseat the burner caps. A cap sitting a few millimeters off disrupts both the flame and the spark path.
- For oven temperature complaints, borrow an oven thermometer. Knowing the real gap — 15°F or 60°F — tells us sensor versus element before we arrive.

We start from the data plate and the symptom, then test rather than swap: ignition faults are metered from burner cap to spark module, oven temperatures are verified against a calibrated probe at cavity center, and double cavities are tested independently. FAQ
I smell gas when I use the range.
Stop using it, ventilate the kitchen, and call us — or the gas utility first if the smell is strong or constant. A faint whiff at ignition that disappears is normal; anything beyond that is not a wait-and-see item.
The griddle on my 48″ range stopped working.
Griddle circuits are independent — usually an igniter or valve on that branch. The rest of the range is unaffected, and the repair stays on that branch.
Do you work on older Professional-series ranges?
